- Qualifications. PhD in mathematical physics; holds international driver's licence.
- Current position. Data Systems Manager / Mathematical Modeller, NERC Institute of Terrestrial Ecology; Junior UK Co-ordinator, Darwin Initiative project Biodiversity Information in the former Soviet Union.
- Expertise. Computing in biological sciences, specializing in storage and integration of experimental data within new and existing mathematical models; establishment and maintenance of websites; management of computer networks and Oracle databases; management of high quality GIS software; knows many Ukrainian scientists personally; publications include papers, book chapters and contract reports; participant in Royal Society project Electronic Maps of Ukrainian Fungi & Plants.
- Languages. English, Russian (basic), Welsh.
- Expeditions & fieldwork. Kazakhstan (1999); Deputy Leader of the Royal Geographical Society's first Ralph Brown Expedition (1998); two visits to Ukraine for scientific collaboration (1997).
