Personal details. Cuban, female, year of birth 1942.

Qualifications. Graduate degree: Licenciatura (Biological Sciences), 1971, Havana University; PhD (Biological Sciences), 1989, Havana University; appointed Assistant Professor, 1977, Havana University.

Current position. Scientific researcher in the Mycological Laboratory of the National Botanical Garden since 1972 (Head of Laboratory, 1980-1995).

Expertise. Mycology; identification of ascomycetes; expert in systematics of Ascomycetes, Xylariaceae; teaching Mycology, Algology and Botany in the Faculty of Biology (1972-2002); supervision of postgraduate students. Curator of the collection of fungal living cultures (1974-1991). Experience of data-entry for computerized biological recording. Scientific member in the following projects: Fungi of the Caribbean (Darwin Initiative, 1997-2000); Fungal Diversity at the Sierra del Rosario Biosphere Reserve, Cuba; Electronic Distribution Maps of Caribbean Fungi (British Council, 2001-2003); Biodiversity Conservation in Cuba (Darwin Initiative, 2001-2004); Diversidad Fúngica en la Reserva Ecológia "Alturas de Banao", Escambray, Cuba (2002-2004); Fungal Diversity in Ecological Reserve "Alturas de Banao", Escambray, Cuba (2002-2004).

Scientific events. Active participation in many different scientific events, attendance to more than 15 international and national congresses, including IX National Simposium of Criptogamic Botany (Spain, 1991); First, Second, Third and Fourth Latin-American Mycological Congresses (La Habana, 1993; La Habana, 1996; Caracas, 1999; Xalapa, 2002); Symposium of Tropical Mycology (Liverpool, 2000). Many publications (more than 10 in Cuba).

Member of Cuban Society of Botany since 1985; founder member of the Latin-American Association of Mycology (ALM) and Secretary (1990-1993); member of the Organizing Committee of two Latin-American Congresses of Mycology (1993, 1996); Cuban Representative Latin-American Association of Mycology (1993-1996); leader of I and II National Exhibitons of Fungi (1991 and 1993) in the National Botanical Garden (Cuba).
